Local man killed in crash on Hwy. 218

An Owatonna man was killed Wednesday morning in a head-on crash on U.S. Highway 218 a few miles south of Owatonna.

Terry Jon Pelovsky, 59, was driving south when his car struck a northbound vehicle driven by Becky Linn Schwering, 58, of Claremont, according to the Minnesota State Patrol.

The report says Pelovsky was taken to Owatonna Hospital by Mayo Ambulance, where he was declared dead.

Schwering was also taken to Owatonna Hospital with injuries that were described as non-life-threatening.

Both drivers had their seat belts fastened and were alone in their vehicle.

In addition to MSP and Mayo Ambulance, crews from Owatonna Police and Owatonna Fire Department responded to the crash, which was reported at 6:55 a.m.

The roads were described as snowy and icy, with blowing snow.
